Comment and History

top-fermented, lagered beer. due to its delicate profile, has a relatively short shelf-life. in the 1800s, developed to combat bottom-fermented pale lagers.

5C. German Helles Exportbier

Comments and History

known as Dortmunder or Dortmunder Export. the term "Export" is a beer strength descriptor under German brewing tradition. developed in the Dortmund industrial region in the 1870s in response to pale Pilsner-type beers.

History

adapted from Czech pilsner to suit brewing conditions in Germany, particularly water with higher mineral content and domestic hop varieties.
