1. Standard American Lager

요약

  • 1A는 는 물과 같음. 거품 빨리 빠지지만 초탄산+초냉동상태로 마시기
  • 1B는 flavor, 색이 1A보다 약간 강한<international lager, pilsner보다는 약함
  • 1C는 이름에 에일이 들어가지만 앞서보다 몰트+색 약간 강조된 뿐. 
  • 1D는 German weissbier와 달리 no 바나나+클로브! wheat의 곡물이 강조

1A. Amerian Light Lager

Aroma

  • malt aroma: low to no
  • hop aroma: light to none

Appearance

  • very pale straw~pale yellow color
  • head seldom persist
  • very clear

Flavor

  • malt flavor: a low~very low grainy or corn-like flavor
  • hop flavor: none to low
  • hop bitterness: low to very low
  • crisp and dry finish
  • clean larger fermentation character

Mouthfeel

  • very light body
  • very highly carbonated

Style comparison

  • w/ American lager: a lighter body, low alcohol
  • w/ Leightbeir: less hop character, bitterness

1B. American Lager

Aroma

  • same w/ 1A

Appearance

  • very pale straw~medium yellow color
  • head, clarity same w/ 1A

Flavor

  • malt flavor: a moderately low~low grainy or corn-like flavor
  • hop flavor: none to moderately low
  • hop bitterness: low to medium low
  • finish, fermentation character same w/ 1A

Mouthfeel

  • low to medium low body
  • carbonation same w/ 1A

Style comparison

  • w/ light American lager: stronger, more flavor and body
  • w/ international lager: less bitterness and flavor
  • w/ traditional European pilsners: less flavor, hops, bitterness

1C. Cream Ale

Aroma

  • malt aroma: medium-low to low with a sweet, corn-like
  • hop aroma: medium-low to none

Appearance

  • pale straw~moderate gold color
  • medium to high carbonation
  • fair head retention
  • brilliant, sparkling clarity

Flavor

  • malt flavor: low to moderate
  • hop flavor: low to medium-low
  • hop bitterness: low to medium-low

Mouthfeel

  • generally light and crisp
  • smooth mouthfeel with medium to high attenuation
  • high carbonation

Style comparison

  • w/ standard American lager: similar but more character

1D. American Wheat Beer

Aroma

  • malt aroma: low to moderate grainy, bready, doughy wheat character
  • hop aroma: low to moderate 
  • banana is inappropriate
  • no clove phenols

Appearance

  • usually pale yellow to gold
  • clarity brilliant~hazy
  • big, long-lasting head

Flavor

  • malt flavor: light to moderately strong bready, doughy, grainy wheat character
  • hop flavor: low to moderate
  • hop bitterness: low to moderate
  • should not include banana
  • no clove phenols

Mouthfeel

  • medium-light to medium body
  • medium-high to high carbonation

Style comparison

  • w/ German weissbier: more hop, less yeast, never banana&clove
  • w/ Blonde ales: same but a wheat character as a primary
